Training Grounds & Bazaar

Kung Fu Fighting!

Congratulations on reaching the title of Grandmaster!

You're now able to travel and hunt in the Training Grounds of the Furoma region! It's an interesting region: combat mice is the theme here! Let's get to Kung Fu Fighting!

First, let's make a pit stop at the trapsmith to take a look at what's new:

Zugzwang's Last Move

2,200 power, 15% power bonus, 0% attraction bonus, 7 luck, fresh cheese effect

Cost: 415,000 gold / Point Requirement: 705,000 points

When I first saw this trap back in 2009, I was impressed by its look and design. The idea of a chess based trap was genius! (You know, 'tactics' and strategy in chess?) I got this trap last time and it worked well for the beginning of Furoma. That was before the release of the venus mouse series traps. Now, you can simply skip this trap, only to return to buy it for crafting purposes later in the game. Your mutated venus mouse trap is marginally better than this.

Bamboozler Base

200 power, 10% power bonus, 5% attraction, 0 luck, very fresh cheese effect

Cost: 90,000 gold / Point Requirement: 900,000 points

This increased power and power bonus will definitely help against the stronger tactical mice in Furoma. However, since the release of the Fan Base, there's really not much of a reason to use this base over the Fan Base, considering the latter's 2 luck. In my opinion, the Fan Base and Dehydration Base are good enough.

Let's proceed to hunt in the Training Grounds. The mice here are part of the "Followers of Furoma" group and are particularly weak to tactical traps. This should be your set-up:

Weapon: Mutated Venus Mouse Trap
Base: Dehydration Base/Fan Base
Cheese: Brie

You'll no longer be using swiss cheese at this level so sell away all your swiss cheese and purchase some delicious brie! Sound the horn! There's only one main goal here:
Catch an Archer Mouse that drops the Ticket to the Burroughs Bazaar.

The Archer Mouse is relatively easy to catch. While hunting here, you'll realise some of the mice here drop satchels of gold as well. This is great, considering most of the tactical mice in Furoma offer high points but generally little gold. Once you've gotten your hands on the Ticket to the Burroughs Bazaar, you'll be able to travel to the Burroughs Bazaar, while completing "Take an Archery Lesson at the Training Grounds" in the adventure book.

You'll notice a variety of wares to purchase in the General Store. No need to rush to purchase anything yet, you can always return here to grab crafting supplies when you need them. For now, head to the Bazaar!

The Burroughs Fairgrounds

Welcome to the Bazaar!

This is not a very interesting location to hunt in general. We're here to complete an errand so let's focus on it and move on!

Task: Repair the Shredded Furoma Map Piece

Head to the Cartographer. Click on the option to purchase the Stitched Furoma Map Piece. This will cost you 90,000 gold. That's all there is to it. Do not repair the Mousoleum Map Piece yet, we're not ready to go there. Once this is done, you have access to the rest of Furoma: the Dojo, the Meditation Room and the Pinnacle Chamber!

During your stay in Furoma, you will need a host of crafting supplies that are distributed between the Training Grounds General Store and the Bazaar General Store. For easy reference, use this list:

Training Grounds General Store:
  • Burroughs Salmon (For crafting susheese)
  • Curds and Whey
  • Nori (For crafting susheese and maki)
  • Rice Paper (For crafting Ambush)
  • Salt
  • Splintered Wood (For crafting combat)
  • Tiny Platinum Bar (For crafting Onyx Mallet)
Bazaar General Store:
  • Cheesy Fluffs (For crafting glutter)
  • Curds and Whey
  • Droid Parts (For crafting Ambush)
  • Ionized Salt
  • Invisi-glu (For crafting glutter)
  • Paint-brand Paint (For crafting combat)
  • Salt

You'll visit the Bazaar every once in a while to stock up on supplies. Okay, great! Let's head to the Dojo!

Bazaar Revisited: Great Burglar Heist!

Welcome back to the Bazaar! This time, we're going for the Master Burglar Mouse! He drops something very valuable. Arm your luckiest setup (this should be your enraged rhinobot along with the aqua base). If you've any gilded cheese collected from burglar mice long ago, now's the time to use it! Master Burglar mice are attracted to only gilded cheese or SB+. With some patience and some luck, you should find yourself snagging one in no time. He'll drop the crown jewel, which is necessary to obtain the King's Gauntlet Floor Plans at the Bazaar Cartographer. Take note that you MUST catch the Master Burglar at the BAZAAR to complete this portion of the adventure book. Also, the floor plans will cost you 50,000 gold as well.

When you have obtained the floor plans, the King's Gauntlet location opens up in the Valour Region. You can head over there to start your gauntlet run!
