Seasonal Garden

The Four Seasons!

Welcome to the title of Lord/Lady! What's up ahead isn't going to be easy so when you're ready, let's gear up and go!

First up, You should have the Zugzwang's scarf to access the Seasonal Garden. Upon entering, this is what you will see:

There are two things to take note of: The current season (indicated on the left) and the tower amplifier (shown by the turquoise bar). Well, to be accurate, your amplifier will start at 0% when you first enter the Seasonal Garden but that's not our main concern now. Let's focus on the mechanics of this location:

The Seasonal Garden, similar to the Forbidden Grove and Balack's Cove, works on a time basis. The Seasonal Garden's cycle is much longer: you have 4 different seasons (spring, summer, fall, winter), each of them lasting 80 hours (3 days 8 hours). Each season requires your trap setup to be of a particular power type for it to be effective although tactical weapons are of normal effectiveness across all of them.

Spring: Physical
Summer: Tactical
Fall: Shadow
Winter: Hydro

Ideally, you'll want use your best possible type of a specific power type rather than just trudge through using only your tactical weapon. As such, here are my recommendations:

Spring
Minimal: Rhinobot
Recommended: Enraged Rhinobot

Summer
Minimal: Horrific Venus Mouse Trap
Recommended: Zugzwang's First Move*

Fall
Minimal: Gorgon Trap
Recommended: Clockapult of Time

Winter
Minimal: Ancient Spear Gun
Recommended: Steam Laser Mk II/III**

*More on this below
**It is recommended that you make at least 1 iceberg run to obtain the Steam Laser Mk II as it is quite a good upgrade over the Ancient Spear Gun

If you've peeked into the General Store, you'll notice blueprints for a cool, new trap: Zugzwang's First Move!

1 Zugzwang's First Move Blueprints + 1 Chess Pieces (obtained from smashing Zugzwang's Last Move)+ 1 Magic Feather = 1 Zugzwang's First Move

Zugzwang's First Move

3,660 power, 15% power bonus, 0% attraction bonus, 17 luck, very fresh cheese effect

Point Requirement: 38,000,000 points

A nifty looking trap, it is slightly better than the Horrific Venus Mouse Trap. While the difference is marginal, it costs slightly over a million gold to craft it. If you have the gold, go ahead - it is the best tactical trap offered to Lord/Lady hunters. However, if you're on a budget (considering you'll be spending a lot more gold ahead as well), I'd say you can skip this trap if you wish to.

Use your molten shrapnel base. It has a good balance of power, attraction and luck. Get yourself some gouda and start hunting. Each season has its own 'boss' to capture; they each drop a shard - combine all the shards and you'll get the Zugzwang Tower Key which opens up the next location. There's no special way to attract the bosses, just keep on hunting normally and you'll catch one soon enough. If you miss the boss during a particular season, you'll have to wait till that season returns back on the rotation. Also, there are two mice that are only attracted by SB+: Spring Familiar (Spring) and Fall Familiar (Fall).

Your goal is to capture: Vinetail (Spring), Summer Mage (Summer), Harvester (Fall), and Winter Mage (Winter). Once that's done, craft the looted shards together and you now have access to Zugzwang's Tower! But wait! We're not done! Remember the amplifier on the HUD?

By now, you'd have notice that for every catch, your amplifier goes up by a little. Different mice add a different amount of charge to the amplifier - generally, the stronger the mouse, the more catching it will add to the amplifier. However, take note, for each hunt that you fail to attract, your amplifier drops by 3%. That's not something to be too concerned about at this point in time but do keep that in mind when you return here later on (yes, you'll have to come back).

Here's what your amplifier is for: To hunt in Zugzwang's Tower. You'll definitely want your amplifier to be charged to the maximum before we move on to the tower. So, make sure your amplifier is fully charged and I'll see you at the tower!
