Mountain Climbing: Finishing Up Journeyman

Well done on getting here! You're halfway through the Journeyman's journey (no pun intended). Back to the region of Gnawnia we are! At this point, you should have your swiss army mouse trap along with your trusty dehydration base.

I'll talk just a little about some of the previously unmentioned traps from the trapsmith in the Town of Gnawnia:

NVMRC Forcefield Trap

2,350 power, 12% power bonus, 10% attraction bonus, 12 luck, no effect cheese effect

Cost: 256,000 gold / Point Requirement: 91,000 points

While this trap may be expensive, it is quite the upgrade over the swiss army mouse trap. Good power, good power bonus, great attraction bonus, great luck. I would not recommend buying this unless you can afford it (or you having funding from a good friend of yours). The swiss army trap will suffice for the remainder of the physical mice you'll face, for now. The later areas will require traps of new power types so you probably won't see this trap being used very much.

Mouse Deathbot

2,400 power, 15% power bonus, 10% attraction bonus, 2 luck, stale cheese effect

Cost: 256,400 gold / Point Requirement: 91,000 points

This trap is slightly more expensive than the forcefield but its by no means better. The extra 50 power and 3% power bonus simply does not justify the 10 luck reduction. Never buy this over the forcefield. You might need to come back for this trap later in the game as you'll need it as a crafting component but that's for another time.

Get the NVMRC if you can. Otherwise, stick to using the swiss army and save your gold. It is good enough for the Mountain, trust me. For now, stock up on your swiss cheese again (if you're low on supply) and let's head to the Mountain!

The Mountain is pretty much one of the last few places to hunt in the region of Gnawnia. (Well, at least for now) The mice you'll encounter are more or less the ones you've already seen in Gnawnia, with a few exceptions.

Your goal here is straightforward:
Catch a Ninja Mouse that drops the Burroughs Laboratory Map Piece. This shouldn't be too difficult with your trap set-up. As usual, arm swiss cheese and just be patient. This will complete the "Find the Hidden Mountain Pass" in the adventure book.

Other than that, there really isn't much to do in the Mountain except wait for the title of Master. Try for the Abominable Snow Mouse! They're really hard to come by.

Let's talk about a new shop for a moment. Click on "Charm Shoppe" under  the Inventory Tab. You'll have access to first few charms! But wait, first you'd have to get a pine charm conduit. You can buy one for 3,000 gold here. Once that's done, you will be able to equip charms! However, the bad news is that these charms are all consumed on every encounter so the gold really adds up, making them not really worth the cost (at least at this point). Here's a summary:

Power Charm: Adds 120 power and 1% power bonus to your set-up

Attraction Charm: Adds 5% attraction bonus

Luck Charm: Adds 1 luck to your set-up

Prospector's Charm: Adds 200 power and 1% power bonus to your set-up. Also increases the encounter rate of Gold and Diamond mice in the Mountain. When used with SB+ in the Mountain, it increases the encounter rate of Silvertail Mice.

I would not recommend buying or using any charms at this stage. Save up the gold for what's to come. Let's move on to the next region, the Burroughs!
